I attended an appointment with my mother at Hawkesley GP Surgery two weeks ago, and I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting much. However, the lady we saw completely changed that — she was absolutely fantastic.
She spoke directly to my mother as well as to me, which my mum really appreciated. All too often, professionals speak only to me and overlook her, but this time she felt seen and respected. The lady gave my mum space to speak, even listening patiently to parts that may not have been entirely relevant, and we never once felt rushed.
My mum became emotional when the lady kindly explained the support she could arrange, and I could see how relieved she was. I asked if the information could be emailed to me, and she sent it promptly after checking with my mum — another thoughtful touch.
Since the appointment, we’ve already had two follow-up calls from the referrals she made. My mum told me she no longer feels overwhelmed, which is a big change. It’s rare for her to feel that a professional is truly open and honest, but we both got that feeling from this lady. Things are already starting to improve, and I’m really grateful.
